The Women’s Information Group is an umbrella organisation which brings together women’s groups throughout Greater Belfast and the surrounding towns.
It was formed in 1980 because it was felt that women needed an opportunity to meet each other, to learn from each other, to enjoy each other’s company and to gather information so that they would feel better about their work, their interests and their lives in their own neighbourhoods.
Information is the key ingredient for any individual or group in the process of gaining confidence, of getting things done or simply being heard. It is a source of power and especially for women who are so often isolated in their homes where information is much harder to require.

There is an Information Day each month on a subject selected by the women themselves.
The Information Days are held in a different locality each month with the women’s group from that area hosting the day.
The subjects covered are many and varied. They include drug abuse, domestic violence, health issues and many more.
